photo_4On April 10th, AlumniOS organized an event in cooperation with the Department of Organization & Strategy (Tilburg University) and CbusineZ, a Health Innovation and Investment Fund of CZ.

The event started with drinks and sandwiches, after which Eric Dooms updated participants on recent developments in the field of research, education at Tilburg University in general and the department of Organization & Strategy in particular. The night’s theme was Corporate Venturing, a topic that was subsequently introduced from a theoretical perspective by Stijn van den Hoogen and Ruud Sneep. While Stijn introduced a theoretical framework based on literature, Ruud elaborated on the role of CERC, the Corporate Entrepreneurship Research Center, established in 2012 by the Tilburg Center of  Entrepreneurship. He explained how CERC tries to connect science and practice on Corporate Entrepreneurship and shared some real life business cases. Ruud’s talk proved to be a nice introduction to the main speaker of the night, Joep de Groot.

On June 19, 2012, AlumniOS, in cooperation with Nolan, Norton & Co. (NNC), organized a theme-night about ‘Competing on Information’. Landgoed de Breul

Set on the beautiful estate of “De Breul” in Zeist, we were welcomed by Mark Wisbrun (Senior Consultant at NNC) and Camiel Maas (Consultant at NNC and Board member of AlumniOS). After a short drink with sandwiches and an introduction round, Mark and Camiel kicked-off and introduced the theme to the audience. Tesco, TomTom, Bol.com, FairPayInsurance and Foursquare were discussed. Read the rest of this entry »

AlumniOS & Nolan, Norton & Co. present: Competing on Information!

Posted by Camiel on May 15th, 2012 under News  •  No Comments

Last year, TomTom was confronted with public outrage over the news that it sold location-based data of its customers to Dutch police. Albert-Heijn (Ahold) has been collecting customer information in order to provide you with customized discount-offers for years now, but what else can it do with that data? Tesco has been analyzing customer preferences and shopping habits for years now, is selling that information to competitors and makes a yearly profit of around £53 Milion on that data! Each of these examples show new business models, based on (large amounts of) data, that have generated a lot of value in a relatively short period. The way in which people, companies and devices communicate is changing dramatically, leading to an explosive increase in the volume of information exchange. These big amounts of data provide opportunities to benefit; data is no longer a byproduct of operational processes: it has become the core resource on which companies are competing nowadays! These companies are competing on information!

On Tuesday, June 19th, AlumniOS will organize a theme-night in cooperation with Nolan, Norton & Co. In the boardroom of Nolan, Norton & Co. in Zeist, the theme of the night will be Competing on Information.
